CAD/CAM Technology

We use CAD/CAM technology in Jefferson City, MO, to design and fabricate precise dental restorations with unparalleled accuracy. This technology allows Dr. Jason A. Dunville and Dr. Hayley Mathie to give you the most effective, efficient treatment available.

What Is CAD/CAM Technology?

CAD/CAM stands for Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing. In dentistry, this technology uses digital impressions and advanced software to design restorations such as crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays on a computer screen. Once the design is finalized, a precision milling machine carves the restoration from a solid block of high-quality ceramic material — all within our office.

How CAD/CAM Benefits You

  • Eliminates messy traditional impressions with comfortable digital scanning
  • Highly precise fit reduces the need for adjustments
  • Many restorations can be completed in a single visit
  • Uses durable, tooth-colored ceramic materials for a natural appearance
  • Reduces the need for temporary restorations and return visits
  • Digital records enable easy future reference and treatment planning

The CAD/CAM Process

After preparing your tooth, our team takes a detailed digital scan of the area. The scan is converted into a 3D model on screen, where your restoration is designed to match your bite and aesthetics perfectly. The design is then sent to our in-office milling unit, which fabricates your restoration in minutes. Once complete, the restoration is polished, glazed and permanently bonded in place.
